Management Team

VSVN consists of a governing operating board of directors, who also serve as officers of the organization. The operating board sets the strategic vision of VSVN and executes that vision through committees made up of dedicated volunteers. A board of advisors supportS the operating board and committees.


Northern California

Huy Do - Chairman/President

Huy serves as VSVN’s Chairman and President. He was Counsel at the world’s largest law firm, Clifford Chance, specializing in intellectual property and international matters. He now dedicates much of his time to expand VSVN.

Lena Tran - Director/Vice President

Lena is currently working for the San Jose/Evergreen Community College District. She specializes in organizational and leadership development for student services. Her experiences include; program and curriculum development, classroom instruction, workshops and seminars, vocational training, and partnerships development. In addition, she is also a consultant for small businesses in the area of marketing and management.

Thanh Tu - Vice President

Thanh currently works at a technology focused public relations firm in San Francisco. In this capacity she has garnered media coverage for top enterprise technology providers. Previous to her position in public relations she sold advertising space at Computerworld, a technology trade publication and web site. Ms. Tu graduated magna cum laude from Tufts University in 2002. While attending Tufts she founded and managed a shipping and storage company and also interned at a venture development firm.

Southern California

William Pham - 2007 Chapter Council President

Bill serves as the Chapter Council President for Southern California. Bill is the President & CEO for Blue Advent Partners, LLC, a sponsor of compelling innovative ideas that should be brought to market. Bill was formerly a transactional attorney at the international law firm of Skadden, Arps, where he specialized in leveraged buyouts and sophisticated financings.

William Tran - Treasurer/Sponsorship Coordinator

Bill is an attorney at the international law firm of Greenberg Traurig. Bill’s practice focuses on all aspects of commercial and general litigation. Bill’s practice has included general business litigation, class action litigation, securities fraud, accounting and professional malpractice, construction litigation, unfair competition law, C.E.Q.A. environmental and land use litigation, and appellate work

Van Nguyen - Membership Coordinator

Van is an attorney at the international law firm of Crowell & Mooring. Van practices in the areas of government contracts, commercial construction litigation, credit reporting litigation and general business litigation. Van is also a volunteer attorney for the Public Law Center of Orange County.

Tom H. Dao - Newsletter Coordinator

Tom is a partner at the intellectual property law firm of Christie, Parker & Hale. Tom was admitted to bar 1999 (California); registered to practice before U. S. PAtent and Trademark Office; U. S. District Courts - California Central District.

Dan Tran - Annual Events Coordinator

Dan is a licensed real estate broker with Fidelity Lending Group, Inc. Dan is also an entrepreneur with experiences in hi-tech start-up.

Nguyen X. Nguyen - International Liaison Coordinator

Nguyen is the founder of the VSVN-SC Chapter. Professionally, Nguyen is a co-founder and President&CEO of Cosemi Technologies, Inc., a fabless manufacturer of semiconductor optical devices . Previously, he was a lead technical contributor for companies such as HRL Laboratories, Conexant Systems, and Global Communication Semiconductors.


Our board of advisors are leaders in their respective fields, having achieved a high level of professional success. They serve as beacons for the Vietnamese high-tech community and serve to mentor and guide VSVN and its members.

Mr. Canh V. Le, President, Le Viet Canh & Vuong Ngoc Quyen Foundation

Canh is a successful Silicon Valley engineer and entrepreneur. He co-founded Tribe Computer Works, a manufacturer of high performance remote access products, which he sold to Zoom Telephonics in 1996. He also co-founded Whistle Communications, maker of an internet enabling appliance for small business, which he sold in 1999 to IBM. In making time to help the community, Canh has served as Chairman of the Southeast Asia Resource Action Center, a non profit organization based in Washington D.C. to advance the interests of Southeast Asian Americans. He and his wife have also established the Le Viet Canh & Vuong Ngoc Quyen Foundation.

Prof. Thuy Le, San Jose State University

Thuy is a Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at San Jose State University. Beside teaching activities, he currently serves as department graduate research advisor for digital area, director of Digital Interfacing Laboratory, coordinator of curriculum assessment and accreditation, and advisor of Vietnamese Engineering Student Association (VESA) at San Jose State University. He specializes in system-area networks (SAN), digital system and logic design, microprocessor and micro-controller, cluster computing and architectures, computational grid and distributed computing, parallel simulation algorithms, scientific software developments, and radiation effects to electronic devices and systems.

Mr. Henry Nguyen, IDG Ventures Vietnam

Henry currently serves as the Managing General Partner for IDG Ventures Vietnam, a $100M venture capital fund focused on making technology investments in the areas of IT and software developement, hardware, Internet infrastructure and services, telecommunications, and biotechnology. The fund seeks to capitalize on the worldwide expertise from its funds in the U.S., China, and Europe and the global IT media platform of IDG’s publications and sponsored expositions worldwide. Before joining IDG Ventures, Henry was the Managing Director in Asia for VITC, a U.S. telecommunications company specializing in IP services and technologies. Henry was a founding partner in the company and has been responsible for managing the company’s Vietnam and Asia operations.

Mr. Thanh Nguyen, CEO, Paramit Corporation

Thanh co-founded Paramit in 1990, and from early on established Paramit’s vision of manufacturing technology leadership, and has built Paramit’s solid reputation with both customers and suppliers. Prior to Paramit, he spent seven years with LTX-Trillium in a variety of Engineering and Management positions. Thanh has a BSEE from San Jose State University. He was selected as a Fellow and is now a Member of American Leadership Forum Board of Directors.

Mr. Thinh Nguyen, CEO, Pyramid Software Development

Thinh has worked in the software development industry for over 25 years in the US specializing in rapid developing of enterprise and telecommunication networks management system (NMS). He has been the President/CEO of Pyramid Software Development (PSD) in Quang Trung Software City, Vietnam since 2001. He formed the Information & Communication Technologies (ICT) Committee of AmCham Vietnam and is currently serves as the committee Chairman.

Ms. Ly-Huong Pham, CEO, Mobiscale LLC (Chair, VSVN Board of Advisors)

With over twenty five years of system software management, consulting and entrepreneur experience, Ly currently serves as chief executive officer and founder of Mobiscale. Prior to Mobiscale, she was CEO at Bluekey Services Inc. and Turbolinux Inc., SVP at Cray Inc., COO at Onscreen24, CTO at Vtel corp, and held other senior management roles at Apple Computer Inc. and Wang Laboratories, Inc. She was a venture advisor to IDG VN, a venture fund investing in Vietnam and a director of Vietnamese Silicon Valley Network. She is a co-inventor of ten granted patents. Ly received a B.A. in Mathematics, an M.S. in Information Systems from Boston University, a Presidential/ Key Executive M.B.A. from Pepperdine University, and is currently enrolled in the Human and Organization Systems PhD program with Fielding Graduate University.

Phuc Than, Vietnam Country Manager, Intel

An Intel veteran of 20 years, Phuc started with Intel in Santa Clara in 1986 as a Market Development Engineer, responsible for developing Intel business in the CAD/CAM market. His effort led to the formation of the Software Modeling Group in 1988, where Phuc served as a Technical Marketing Manager, working closely with Intel OEM customers to validate their products on the Intel architectural platform. In 1991, Phuc joined the Software Marketing Group as Marketing Manager to help software vendors develop and market their solutions on Intel’s processors. Phuc remained with the group—later became the Intel Architecture Lab (IAL), until 1996 when he joined the Corporate Demo Group as a Technical Marketing Manager to provide technology support and demonstrations for top Intel Executives as they traveled around the world to promote Intel’s technologies. In this position, he gained valuable exposure to the development and deployment of technologies worldwide. He also played a key role to help launch the Intel Pentium® II and Pentium® III processors in several countries.

In January 2000, Phuc moved to Vietnam as Country Manager for Intel Vietnam, where he currently leads the development of Intel business to become one of the fastest growing countries for Intel worldwide. In 2002, he added Cambodia and Laos to his area of responsibility. Working closely with the local governments and key players in the IT industry, Phuc has successfully developed and implemented several initiatives to increase the adoption of information and communication technologies in business, consumer, government, and education. He also played a key role in the process that led to Intel’s Feb 2006 $605M (increased later to $1Billion) investment to build a chip A/T facility in Ho Chi Minh City.

Phuc was born in Saigon, Vietnam and migrated to the US in 1975. He graduated from the University of California at Davis in 1985 with a BS Degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences.

Don Tran, President and CEO, GES Inc.

Don has more than 17 years of experience in the semiconductor industry and has held numerous senior executive positions in product development, global business operations, and sales and marketing with several major US semiconductor equipment companies; among them are Mattson Technology, Semitool Inc., Silicon Valley Group Inc., Watkins Johnson Co.

Don has also been a co-founder and officer of three hi-tech companies in the semiconductor space funded by venture capitals as well as corporate strategic and private investors in US and Asia. Currently he is the President & CEO of GES Inc. a semiconductor equipment service company with a large operation in Viet Nam. Before beginning his career in the semiconductor industry, Don was employed by NASA AMES Research Center for 4 years where he participated in flight simulation development and aeronautical research. Don currently holds a patent in the field of CVD, and co inventor in three patent applications in the field of semiconductor yield management and metrology.

Don holds an MBA degree from Pepperdine University, an MSME degree from San Jose State University, and a BSCE degree from the University of California, Davis.
